7. Guide to Moons

Moons share the same coordinates with their respective planet and serves as an “add-on”. They come with random sizes varying from 20 – 50. In order to get a moon on one of your planets, a battle needs to take place; for every 400,000 debris you get +1% chance to create a moon. The chance is capped at 20% with 800,000,000 debris.
It is vital to have a few moon when you expand your planets across systems, as you can easily warp your fleet across moon with the use of the Wormhole Generator. Additionally, you can build specific buildings on your moon that give you a certain advantage, such as the EU-X Radar Array, which allows you to scan incoming fleets very precisely (ETA, size, etc.)

This table lets you see what you need to have a moon created:

Also remember that the enemy causalities also count towards the total debris field. Here are some tips on what units you should and should not build on the moon:

Moonbase:
Regard this as you moon headquarters. Yes it’s necessary to keep on upgrading this, as for every level you get 3 more buildings slots for you to use! Upgrade this as and when you need more space. Recommended!

EU-X Radar Array:
Very important. This Radar lets you scan planets and their fleets, whereby ever level expands the scanning radius by 3 system. Even more importantly, you can see an enemy fleet’s size and targeted location. Recommended!

Wormhole Generator:
If you have 2 Wormhole Generators on 2 moons, you can warp you fleets in between them. Be careful though, after ever time its being used, it needs to recharge itself. High levels will achieve shorter warp travelling times. Recommended!

Pioneer Lab:
This building allows you to benefit from shorter construction times for the buildings on your moon. So do build one if you can spare the extra resources. If Possible!

Shipyard:
Not a good idea to build one on the moon, as you already have a shipyard on your planet, and secondly because it does not receive the benefits from the Nanite Factory. Not Recommended!
